Lone Star Boxer Rescue is the Houston Chapter of Austin Boxer Rescue, a nonprofit 501(C)(3) organization dedicated to the health and well-being of the boxer breed. LSBR/ABR is run and managed 100% by volunteers since 1999. Our main objective is to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home boxers that come to us from many sources including local animal shelters, owner surrenders, and strays. Please consider making a tax deductible donation to allow us to save more dogs in need throughout the state of Texas.
Vinnie here.... I’m estimated by the shelter to be about four years old but seem much younger, especially since I’m energetic and a bit on the smaller size. I’m a handsome boy with a natural tail! I’m a happy, curious, very smart boy who loves hugs and people time! I’m also enjoy walks, stuffed animals, bones and going for car rides. I’m house broken, crate trained, won’t pull your arm off with the leash and have good manners. If I could have picked my own name, it would have been Happy Einstein – cause I’m super smart and upbeat all the time. I will tell you that I’m very athletic.....I can jump a 6 foot fence but my foster family has seen that only because I’m never left alone in the back yard while they are gone. Sometimes I have a bit of separation anxiety but my foster mom has noticed that’s becoming much less of an issue the more I’m settling in at their house. I’m a very fast learner and I know commands like sit, heel, off, come, and stay – I aim to please and try very hard to do what you want me to do! I’m a very happy guy but can be a little ‘nippy’ when I play and get too excited. Until I break the play-nipping habit, I do better with older kids (teenager) and adults who can reign me in when I get too excited!
I LOVE people and will be by your side or in the same room with you at all times. I’m better if you put my crate in your bedroom so I’m close in case you need me in the middle of the night. I don’t bark too much or bother with other dogs in neighboring yards but squirrels – it’s game on! I consider squirrel management to be one of my better skills! I seem selective about my canine friends in my yard/house but have had some very positive introductions recently......I just need to take it slow and some work on my social skills.
I’m really, really hoping I can find the perfect home with an experienced owner to help me continue my training! I know this home exists for me and I’m eager to find it!
