Lone Star Boxer Rescue is the Houston Chapter of Austin Boxer Rescue, a nonprofit 501(C)(3) organization dedicated to the health and well-being of the boxer breed. LSBR/ABR is run and managed 100% by volunteers since 1999. Our main objective is to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home boxers that come to us from many sources including local animal shelters, owner surrenders, and strays. Please consider making a tax deductible donation to allow us to save more dogs in need throughout the state of Texas.

My name is Colonel and thanks to KFC popcorn chicken and "The Colonel", my life was saved.  Would you like to hear my amazing rescue story? It's a good one.

Somehow I found myself, all 10lbs of me, darting across a busy road next to another busy road called the Beltway.  These massive, roaring monsters called cars were coming at me from all directions.

Amazingly, I crossed the road safely and found myself in a busy parking lot. This time the beastly cars were coming from all directions. Everywhere I turned, there was another one coming at me. No one stopped and some just honked.

I was hopeless and lost and stood there shaking like a bowl of jello in my tiny little paws. I really thought its was "curtains" for me when  a nice lady and two little girls pull up next to me.

It took a while but thanks to KFC nuggets, the lady convinced me to trust her.  I rolled over in gratitude once her hands were on me.  I knew I was safe.

If you haven't noticed, I am a Chihuahua.  I weigh just over 10 lbs.  I am house-trained and I do well with other dogs but I especially LOVE children.  I like to play but I also like to cuddle in your lap and give tiny little "love" kisses.  I am fully vetted, heartworm negative and neutered.  What more could you want in a pup? I'm even willing to wear doggy clothes as long as they are tasteful.  Whatever makes you happy!

I am just so grateful for my "second chance". Now I dream of finding a forever family so that I can shower them with love and gratitude.
