Lone Star Boxer Rescue is the Houston Chapter of Austin Boxer Rescue, a nonprofit 501(C)(3) organization dedicated to the health and well-being of the boxer breed. LSBR/ABR is run and managed 100% by volunteers since 1999. Our main objective is to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home boxers that come to us from many sources including local animal shelters, owner surrenders, and strays. Please consider making a tax deductible donation to allow us to save more dogs in need throughout the state of Texas.

My name is Gemma, and I am about 5 yrs old, am gentle and sweet, but protective, too. I like other dogs, and when my collar slipped off last week, I was very excited to get a chance to visit with a couple of little boys who were playing in the park, nearby. My foster mom thinks this means I like young people. I wake up in a great mood, and like to greet everybody with a heartfelt "Good Morning!!".
In the month that I've been living with my foster mom, I am learning to "ring the bell" on the door knob, when I want to go outside. I am also learning to hop into my kennel when she says "kennel up". I'm quiet in my kennel, while she is at work. I don't get on furniture, and I walk well on a leash, and don't pull at all. It's nice to see what's going on in the neighborhood.
I'm studying a foreign language, "Peoplese", and my foster mom thinks I'm learning it quickly. She says I have an absorbent mind, and that I am quite teachable. I really shine in the presence of kindness, and am motivated by a desire to please. My foster mom wishes I could stay, but I tip the scales at 75 lbs, and she lives in a small apartment with MoJo. They have a forever commitment and there is not enough space for all 3 of us. Even so, they will both miss me when I find my forever home. I can't wait to meet my forever family. I have a beautiful, brave heart, and my foster family thinks I deserve the very best forever home!
